India was in an unfamiliar position ahead of the penultimate ODI versus New Zealand. Known to dictate terms, especially when playing at home, India lost the series opener to Kiwis by 6 wickets at Wankhede Stadium. However, they showed enough character and grit to fight back and level the series. The series finale is nicely set post-India’s 6-wicket victory at Pune.

The former India captain was heard advising and guiding young spinner and batsman Kedar jadhav and Virat Kohli throughout Newzealand innings. The stump mike picked up interesting little nuggets, which involved everything from bowling length to the type of delivery, dished out by Dhoni. The 36-year-old’s tips came in handy for the spinner as he balls very economical bowling against Newzealand in Second ODI.

Now with the burden of captaincy off his shoulders, Mahi is now in a position to help India’s young spinners adjust their bowling based on the situation.
